I do like the easy-breezy style: casual beach pics + lots of white space! Except when I say "easy" I mean it verges on a complete lack of content. It seems to follow the format of Ina Garten's books with its glossy pages and overall heft, and I like that. But really, this is an assembly manual for the total newbie - and those who don't know any better. Gwenyth has proven to have great palate for complex flavors, but those sensibilities are absent from these pages. Her book " Its All Good" was coauthored by Julia Turshen, so maybe I actually gave Gwenyth too much credit. "The Clean Plate" is all marketing and none of the blood sweat and tears that usually go into the making of a cookbook. I should also add -- it's really insulting to find recipes for cold cereal topped with fruit. I pre-ordered a book for myself, and sent one to a friend for Christmas... I will have to apologize.

I run an organic cleanse that I have delivered to my clients each morning, so tasty clean food is a serious concern to me. These recipes look tasty and clean, in many cases unusual, and they're un-fussy, which to me is a hallmark of good cook craft. The book is handsome with a nice feel to it. My one complaint is that there are way too few recipes for the steep price and some of the recipes seem to be fillers, e.g., that for chamomile & mint tea?

I love this book!! I have been on a one year health journey, studing functional medicine and looking at food as medicine to help heal some of my health issues (bloat, reflux, yeast, weigh gain, anxiety, fatigue, etc) that have plagued me in my late 30’s. I have come across all of the doctors she has referenced several times in my reading and am impressed with their work. I also see a functional medicine MD who has recommended much of what she and the doctors talk about, so I know this is the latest and greatest in the field (and my appointments aren’t cheap, so why not get this book for yourself as a place to start?). What I love is how this book highlights the doctors’ most valuable advice and puts it all in one place as a convenient resource for us. And let’s talk about the recipes! They look and sound amazing! I’ve been struggling to find recipes that satisfy elimination diet requirements and that sound tasty, and she sure gave us some (eggless frittatas made with cauliflower, peas and Indian spices that evoke thoughts of samosas - YUM)! The recipes seem pretty simple to make too and she uses ingredients readily available these days. My favorite Christmas gift! Can’t recommend it enough - especially if you are looking to heal yourself with food. I also love her welcoming, warm, supportive tone. To the complainers: if you want a pound cake recipe, purchase a title from Ina (no disrespect here). I, for one, predict this cookbook will be embraced and recommended by many health care practitioners looking to help their patients feel better. I think it will become a classic in the clean eating cookbook genre!

I love Paltrow's other cookbooks, but this is not something that the average person can use. The ingredients are not easily accessible to many people. I would not recommend this book.

This book is more of a “why” you should eat clean versus actually giving good, doable recipes for it. So disappointed. I cook a lot, and in a clean way. I don’t need a recipe for a frittata or how to pickle cucumbers. GP clearly has a multi-book deal w her publisher and this one is a filler. It’s pretty to look at but a complete waste of $.

I have to preface this by saying I LOVE GP. I've subscribed to GOOP since their first newsletter, and I have her other cookbooks, and use them often. I was so excited for this one. It looks fantastic, like the other ones, but like someone said in another review, it's kind of like healthy eating 101 for a pure 100% beginner. The recipes are either so simple they're almost insulting (spinach omelette) or so unusual/complicated, I'd only want to make it for a special occasion (soccata--I can't really see myself making this for breakfast for myself and my dude.) All this being said, I haven't cooked anything from it yet, but I only found a few recipes that I actually want to try. I was so excited about the cleanse section, because I could probably benefit from nearly every one of them, but the information is nothing you can't easily find in an online search if you've had any previous interest in healthy eating/holistic medicine. If you want a healthy cookbook, I'd look at Oh She Glows or GP's It's All Easy.

This is my first book by GP so I nothing else to compare her works to but I felt the book was well put together. I did some reading on it prior to purchasing so I did have knowledge of what was to be presented and honestly, I bought this more so for Part II- the cleanses. Her recipes are limited in quantity but they are all very achievable. I appreciated the key on each recipe (Vegan/ Quick/ Packable). This, like all cookbooks, is a guide to be used at your discretion. I found the photos to be gorgeous. Not all recipes had photos but they are not always needed. I really appreciated the details provided in Part II- the details Q&A for each cleanse with physicians. There are 6 and each are for specific reasons. She also goes into an ideal meal plan for the cleanse- which is NOT consuming juices for 3 days. It’s about eating real, whole, clean food so your body (which is pretty fantastic at detoxing on its own) can naturally detox. This is not a fad diet book, either. I truly believe you will get out of it what you put into this book so take it for what it is.

I was so excited for a new GP cookbook as her 3 others are my favorite cookbooks, but upon opening it I surprisingly couldn't find a single recipe that was appetizing, cleanse or no cleanse.
