Picks up pretty close to book 3 ending. I wouldn't say this is a standalone because you have to know who these characters are from previous books and Armstrong doesn't waste our time explaining what the backgrounds of all the supporting characters are, which I appreciate more than I can say. We get to meet April, Casey's sister in this and while we are learning about her so is Casey, and it was informative as well a good plot point. April comes to help Kenny from the shooting in book 3, I'm not sure who helps who most in this story. We get a good murder mystery that takes Casey's detective abilities to solve. Always interesting to learn more about these townspeople and the town itself, as well as why they have come to escape their individual world's. Looking forward to the next book.

I have to say I was wondering where this story was going to take us. I really enjoyed the interaction between the characters. What I really like was the fact Armstrong introduced Casey's sister as having Autism. To have Isobel point out the signs to Casey; to make her understand what her sister has gone through and why she seems distant. I can't wait to see how this relationship develops, along with her relationship with Kenny.

Kelley Armstrong build another tight thriller for Casey, Eric and the other characters who reside in Rockton. With each novel more layers are revealed and the reader develops a deeper appreciation of the interplay and dysfunction of this community and its denizens. I eagerly await each new addition to this series. I do recommend reading the novels in order to gain the best understanding of the intricate world building in these novels.

This time we get to meet Alice, Casey's sister. There have been hints about their troubled relationship in previous books, so I really enjoyed getting to know Alice. The best part of these books is the relationships between Eric and Casey, and the main characters in Rockton. I can't get enough or Mathias, and, as usual, there are twists and turns until the very end of the book.

Starting right after book 3, the author takes us back to Rockton and the surrounding forest. Casey & Dalton are up to their eyeballs in crime and even they can't figure out how all this is going to pan out. With her dedication to entertainment, mystery & thrills Kelley Armstrong held me as a servant to her words as they rolled out.

Another fun outing in the Rockton series. Kelley Armstrong writes exciting stories from YA to adult and paranormal to mystery. Lucky us!!!!

I love this series, it is like coming home when I pick up the book. Casey seems to be steeped in dangerous situations. She is in love with Dalton and her puppy, but now she also has her sister, and also friends that fill her life.

I really like this series and really hate waiting for the next in line. The concept is interesting the tension is fantastic. Love the heroine.

These are great insults if you are six or seven years old. Most have been around for years and are silly or stupid, NOT funny. No sophistication at all. Waste of money.

Most examples were crude and heavy-handed ( unless the intent is to start a fight ). Many are phrased in "redneck" fashion, which is both an insult toward rednecks and reveals the user's lack of finesse.

I bought the Audible version of this book and settled down to learn a new meditation technique. After all, the Forward written by a doctor said that "She will show you how to do it." But I listened to chapter after chapter and all I got were reasons to meditate, said with different emphasis and slightly different words, but the same message. I didn't buy the book to be told that meditation will reduce my stress, increase my productivity, and even improve my sex life. I expected a chapter or two on the benefits, but not a whole book! Aaaaah, but I was naive. The purpose of the book was to sell me an online course, not to give me the technique I was seeking.So I don't know where all of these highly favorable reviews come from, but I have my suspicions. Buy this book if you want a long sales pitch telling you mostly things you know already, and a few "case studies" of what meditation did for people, but don't expect to learn how to meditate. That will cost you.

Me BEFORE this book:• I liked the IDEA of meditating more than I liked meditating.• Wasn't too sure what people actually meant when they said "meditation" - other than being quiet, eyes closed & taking deep breaths.• Thought 10 minutes of that was an absolute eternity.Me AFTER this book:• I know what meditation is! (A verifiable 4th state of consciousness! -- don't I sound smart?!)• I know the difference between meditation and mindfulness (and why & when to use each).• I understand that the scientific literature has MUCH to say about the benefits of meditation.• I5 minutes, twice a day is a completely do-able practice for me -- especially once I made it a priority to cultivate the habit• I HAVE SEEN THE FRUITS of meditation in my health & well-being. For me, the biggie is: after 14 years with chronic insomnia - I am enjoying better sleep! (No, it didn't evaporate overnight for me. But it's consistently better, and the off-nights are less awful.)Emily Fletcher explains the science, the origins, the myths and the techniques of meditation in a way that I could understand (but without dumbing it down). I appreciated that she wasn't preachy, and that she had answers for all my concerns and objections. Fair warning: If you read this book, you're gonna end up meditating. And it's going to change your life.

I admit I may have some bias because I’m one the 15 thousand students of Emily’s meditation training before she authored this book. So I got her expertise and technique delivered differently before I read the book. The book has it all in there though and is going to bring this amazing tool to so many more people and it’s all in this honed in concise package that is super easy to get started right away. I meditate twice a day and my life is so much better and fuller now and that’s the point of meditation.
