I really enjoyed the book for the perspective it provided. The book was entertaining, engaging, and broadened my awareness when it came to my own eating habits. However, I do have to warn for anyone that has struggled with a restrictive eating disorder needs to take much of what is said with a grain of salt. The book still is geared toward's restriction, and some of the exercises in another context would look very similar to the habits practiced by those with restrictive eating disorders.The "less is more" tone is likely fitting given the majority of readers are likely having trouble with over consumption as opposed to under, but some of the information contained could be taken as suggestions to further restrict (which I am sure was not Dr. Chozen Bay's intention).Again - a great read for all, but be mindful and aware when applying the suggestions to your own habits.

I find it difficult to rate this book .She's a great writer and knows her subject, but when I tried to read it from beginning to end, I was bored and couldn't make it through. On the other hand, there are some invaluable gems in this book. Things that have changed my way at looking at food, and I found myself skimming and highlighting some important passages. I'd recommend it on that alone.

I am well into the audio CD version of Mindful Eating. The audio is spoken by the author herself, which I always prefer. As others have noted, the author's voice and cadence is not as captivating as some professional readers, but after a few minutes I am now totally comfortable with it, and enjoying the CDs greatly. The author packs a an excellent mixture of observations, research, personal stories, recommendations, and exercises. Although the author mentions Zen a number of times, I never feel that she is pushing the Buddhist religion at me. Only that the Zen tradition has a lot of wisdom and insight regarding our relationship to food that is worth sharing. I am already applying her methods, and getting good results early on.

Love this book. I borrowed it from the library for a Mindful Eating college elective class and ended up buying a copy. I've lost 6 lbs since I started using some of the teachings from the book. If I did it more faithfully I probably would have lost more. I've also done some of the exercises with my weight loss group and they keep asking for more.

Buddihsm for eating. This is not a diet book, but it gives you the tools to have a better relationship with what you put in your stomach. Pack with exercises and facts to help you better understand your eating or disorders. It's a must read.

I was required to buy this and read this as part of my bariatric surgery work prior to having bariatric surgery. I can tell you this book has lots of hints and illustrations and is quite good as far as teaching your mind to eat less and still be happy. Highly recommend this rate.

For me, it seems that the book works to teach you to enjoy eating and to eat with a purpose. Understanding why we eat and what foods our bodies should eat to keeep us health. The book takes both a physical and mental approach to eating. The book also comes with a CD that provides a guide to meditation and various meditation exercises to help you in developing a healthy balance between the mind and body in your approach to eating.

This is a wonderful work about our relationship with eating. This book is very well written and I like the easy peaceful style. I loved this book chapter after chapter. Americans have become estranged as a nation from our very important relationship with eating. Mindful Eating is a practice that is of mega importance in our life. I am still reading the book. I decided to start my MMT/Keto diet immediately upon receipt of the book. As I need to lose a lot of weight, and have failed many,many, many times before, I wanted to jump right in and not stall. I have also been considering surgery, but really want to beat this beast without surgery. I'm about 8 days on a plan of 1600-2000 calories, less than 40-50 net carbs, protein at around 100 grams (calculated using his formula in the book) and the rest of calories from fat. It's amazing how well my body has reacted to this program. I have done low carb in the past and experienced good short term results but this feels different. First, I'm in ketosis--moderate ketosis (4). I purchased the ketosis test sticks on amazon (about $10) and on about my 6th day it was a medium color purple. I lost 11 lbs in my first 7 days. That's obviously really good (I don't care if its water weight--it is 11 lbs less i'm hauling around), but what is more satisfying is how hunger and cravings go away. As I'm probably a food addict, I'm never really hungry. Having the cravings shut down is absolutely what I need. I think what helped me get into moderate ketosis is that I cut out all added sugar immediately and all flour. My goal is net 40 grams of carbs, but I'm probably closer to 30grams (I track everything on an online app). I'm amazed that I'm just not craving food. HABITS is what I'm left to fight. However, without hunger/cravings, it is a lot easier to correct the bad habits that I've had for decades. I'm also doing Peak Fasting discussed in the book. It is a modified approach as I fast from 7:30PM to 9AM during the weekday of my first week, and 7:30PM to 1PM on the weekends. I'm amazed that I'm not hungry. I do have a cup of coffee with 1/2 tbsp of MCT oil each morning so perhaps it is not a 100% fast. However, it hasn't taken me out of ketosis and I keep losing weight (appox .5 to 1.5 a day). Of course that won't last forever but I'm riding that train as long as it last.My diet has consisted mainly of the following (prepared varioius ways for different meals) eggs, avocado,berries, hemp protein powder, olives, olive oil, mct oil, beef/chicken/fish, macadamia nuts, pumpkin/sunflower seeds riced cauliflower/broccoli, kale/spinach, onions and garlic and spices. Olives (Davina Organic Pitted Green Olives) have been a great snack for me (staisfying, low carb, and good fat).Again, I'm just starting out. I hope to update this review as I succeed. Meantime, the book has been great. Lots of information. Good science. Easy to read.6/15..Just a quick update. The Intermittant Fasting is fantastic. I do an 18 hr fast each day (6pm-Noon) and eating as recommended in the book makes it easy. Weight loss in less than a month is 26. No cravings, no hunger, energized and feeling motivated. Still forming the habit/life style, but it has been pretty easy.

A majority of the stories in this collection focus on Sherman. I guess in a way, he really is a super fish. Jim Toomey does a wonderful job of educating his fans about the conditions, and creatures, of the world's oceans. You can always count on Hawthorne to try and make a buck from any situation. Fillmore is the artistic voice of reason and Ernest is the tech nerd. Who else would you want in your lagoon of fun?

Another great collection of Sherman's Lagoon cartoons ! It never gets old.The cartoonist, Jim Toomey, always comes up with new story lines that leave a smile on your face and cheer in your heart.

I read them online for free but they are nice to have around to lighten the mood some days. I have all of them, I think it is more than 23 because of combos, not sure.

Love this series and buy it for myself and my sister as gifts!

McKenna knows a ton about PTSD and has done her homework. There are some really interesting characters but they are never developed because she keeps going on and on about PTSD.What she knows about cows and horses and ranching is not very much. The ranch is in financial trouble but they have the money for a large covered arena? From where? Out of thin air? A covered arena is really, really expensive, just saying. And you have to laugh about a bale of hay costing 100 dollars. A Ton of hay depending on what part of the country you live in can be between 100 to 300 a TON. A horse needs a minimum of 16 lbs of hay a day so an 80 lb bale is not going to last 10 days...and then the grocery issue? They can't afford beef? Please, it's Wyoming frigging cattle country. Most ranches keep steers around for the freezer. You slaughter your own. So there is always meat in the freezer.The point being made is we need to do more for our vets. After being bludgeoned about it for the entire book I get it. But you still need to develop the characters and add in some accuracy about day to day ranch operations and not make stuff up. For the record I'm a ranch and horse owner so it's laughable to read stuff like this. I don't think I'll be reading the rest of this series.

I am a fan of Lindsay McKenna and some, not all, of her books involve PTSD and the problems our veterans face when they return home. This book goes on and on and on about PTSD and the plight of our homeless veterans, it NEVER stopped. I ended up skimming the pages in hope of more plot development, I finally gave up 1/2 way thru, it is so bad/boring. I respect our Veterans, I am so sorry about their suffering and wish I could do more, but I purchase a romance to escape from reality and it is not fair that I pay good money for an author to preach to me about their beliefs/charity/opinion. Lindsay McKenna has gone the way several other senior romance authors and now uses her, once wonderful books, as tools to push her points of view.

I have long been a fan of Ms. McKenna’s books – and a rabid Delos series reader! – and I have read the first Wind River story. However, Wind River Rancher touched me, on so many levels, right from page 1. Yeah, I was a little annoyed that I started snifflin’ so early in the book but truly, it will touch your heart and soul. Maybe it is because she was in the military herself, still works with and supports military families and vets, or maybe it is because she feels what a Vet is going thru. I am just happy that she creates these stories for us to read and enjoy.WRR is about Shay Crawford, a veteran, and Reese Lockhart, also a veteran. Shay is building a ranch for wounded vets where they can heal and truly feel useful to society – and themselves. All of the wranglers, including Shay, are a ragtag group that has formed a family. And they welcome Reese into their fold right away. He makes a difference, to all, but mostly to Shay and himself. What a healing journey for these two!We get to meet some characters from the previous book – no biggee, this is a standalone novel – and they add some spice to this story. I love Charlie; you’ll meet him right away and he is a big part of the reason for my beginning sniffles.There’s lots of heart in this story! I won’t recap because it is too good for me to condense into not-quite-enough words. I wholeheartedly recommend Wind River Rancher and will bet that you fall in love with Reese at page one.

This book was a bit slow for me in the coming together of Shay and her newest wrangler Reese. The story contained a powerful message in how our vets with PTSD are often forgotten when they return. It also highlighted how the effects of PTSD impacts the lives of their families.What made this a mere 3 star book for me was the excessive repetitions of references to PTSD. In my opinion, it was too much with no new information, it was as if the reader forgot 2 pages ago that everyone is a vet and suffering from PTSD. Over and over and over same references.Without a doubt, our vets deserve better but the book could have done a better job in bringing attention to this issue.

While I am sure this book oversimplifies this look into PTSD and the horrible affects it has on our veterans, I really did think that it at least scratched the surface and provided a narrative toward understanding. The love story was sweet and not rushed and I really liked the other characters who live at the ranch. They get their own books later and I have begun reading those as well. A nice collection of heartwarming stories.

Storyline on PTSD excellent however a little redundant. Plot was over 2 chapters before end and left the "father" storyline without much conclusion. Sexual scenes not ip to McKenna standards and 8 have read everyone of her books. Let's see what she does with Garret.

Even with that, I still enjoyed the story. I found that skipping the bulk of the interior dialogue sections and 'explanations' helped the flow of the story. I'm not a rancher or ex-military, but even I understand the ideas and bits about PTSD and daily life on a working ranch. I'd like to see future work from this author after the extra verbiage is reduced. I'll bet it will be downright addicting.

Wonderful story about a wounded warrior woman wanting to help others like herself. The friendships and love she has around her, and the man who she finds she can share her love with. Romantic and heartwarming book about people sharing and growing together.
