It was a nice story. But at times, I was irritated with Carson. He's a 29 year old man who has dated someone for years who he supposedly doesn't even like. And then he doesn't have the backbone to cut it off or put a stop to her efforts to claim him. It was taking the nice guy theme to the point of almost not liking his character at all.
Valentine Bride: (A Sweet Romance Novella)...is about Fynlee Dale, who works in a medical billing office at the hospital, her grandmother, Matilda (Tillie), Tillie's friend Ruth, and Ruth's nephew, Carson. Fynlee's grandmother is a handful to say the least. Fynlee never knows what to expect when she gets a phone call from the Golden Skies Nursing Home, where Tillie lives. The latest escapade, is that Tillie has dressed herself in leggings underneath her late husband's underwear. Fynlee couldn't believe what her grandmother had done, walking around the nursing home like that and not thinking anything of it. It's at this time, that Ruth (the complete opposite of Tillie, a refined woman, but the two personalities compliment each other) is entering the nursing home as she has decided to sell the ranch that her late husband and her owned, to Carson, and live at the nursing home. The two women couldn't be happier to be together again. This is when Fynlee and Carson meet. Both, Fynlee and Carson both are attracted to each other from the beginning. But will they find themselves with a happy ending? The characters are real and capture the reader's heart and interest. Once you start reading this story, you will not want to put it down. It has romance, humor, heartache, and the true love that family has for one another. I can't wait for a sequel to this book. There is also a preview of another book, Love at the 20 yard line. There is also a recipe and listings along with descriptions of the author's other books.

Right?This novel had a lot of head-hopping, and it made no sense to me that Carson didn’t tell Fynlee right away when he broke up with Hillary. However, with the outlandish blotting of the grandmothers and two sweet main characters, I found the story entertaining and a light, easy read.

Shanna Hatfield introduces us to Matilda, her newest quirky character in her new series: HOLIDAY BRIDES.Matilda is an eccentric and highly lovable lady that seems to keep everyone around her on their toes because they don't know what she'll do next. Matilda has a granddaughter and Matilda's friend has a nephew, who's just bought his aunt's farm and both young people are unmarried; Grams and Aunty to the rescue (at least to their way of thinking)!I really like this first novella in the series and I look forward to reading many more with Matilda at the helm...she truly is a "kick!"
Valentine Bride is the perfect real life love story with all of the ups and downs of courtship and finding true love. Fynlee and Carson are forced to deal with many obstacles before they can finally admit their love for us each other and find forever happiness. When Grandmother Matilda and Aunt Rose decide to play matchmakers the fireworks and fun really start. Valentine Brides has everything a fan of romantic novels could want without the sex scenes or obscene language. I am a huge fan of all of Shanna Hatfield's books and I am anxiously awaiting the followup to Valentine Brides. Please be sure to read this five plus novella today.
What a fun interesting set of characters!! I love all of Ms Hatfields work, but this was truly entertaining. I couldn't put the story down, waiting to see what Tillie and Ruth came up with next. I look forward to reading about Carson's brothers.
I was drawn into this book really quickly - I loved the twist and turns as the matchmakers meet their match and have to battle through to allow true love to win. The characters were real and easy to relate to. Another excellent book by Shanna Hatfield. I am looking forward to the next books in the series
