For anyone who has a Star Wars Visual Dictionary and gets this Official Guide to Solo will notice its uniqueness and compact size. I for one was expecting it to be around the same dimensions as previous editions, however, the movie is an anthology film and like Roge One, its book differed greatly from others in DK's series as well. Solo's format is arguably the most noticable aspect one will endure and sure will have to get use to. In fact IMO it is quite similar like DK's previous Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know. With that being said, this Solo guide is without a doubt an exciting look with good info and excellent pictures of the new characters, ships, behind the scenes etc. and a great way to prepare you for the new entry in the Star Wars Saga!

Publisher Dorling-Kindersley and their authors, especially Pablo Hidalgo, continue to impress me with their "nonfiction" books about the Star Wars universe, revealing details and facts about all the things we see on the screen, but never have time to learn about. While this volume is maybe not as detailed as their Rogue One book--this seems aimed at a slightly younger audience, with a shorter page count and maybe less text--it still fleshes out the world of the story in some fun ways. As always, I enjoy the connections made between various Star Wars stories (for example, the links between coaxium, the hyperspace fuel seen in this film, and the purrgils, hyperspace-traveling creatures from Star Wars Rebels) as well as the detailed stories behind almost each and every character we see in the background. From the hints that Pablo Hidalgo drops about them in this book, I would watch a whole movie or read a whole book about Enfys Nest and the Cloud Riders. The visual elements maintain D-K's usual high standards, with easy to read page layouts and beautifully reproduced photos of characters and hardware. I have always been interested in the little world-building details of the Star Wars world, ever since I collected action figures of all the background characters and droids who never even received names in the movies. Books like these are perfect for detail-junkies like me, and this latest one is a ton of fun.

All of the cities and locations, the creatures, the machinery, the food, the characters, the monsters, outfits, weapons, ships, gliders and speed bikes are featured in this collection. There's even a full detailed description of the outside as well as the inside of the Mellinium Falcon. You get an up close and detailed look at all of the weapons and other devices used in this film even down to the dice that Solo carries around with him. This book is a thrill ride from cover to cover and a must for any fan or true collector. You'll definitely want to buy this book.

These Star Wars books by Pablo Hidalgo are consistently full of information and excellent pictures from the movies. Another good one. Nice book.

I really enjoy the STAR WARS visual dictionaries. They have been consistently one of my favorite companion books to the various Star Wars films. Starting back in 1998 with the first visual dictionary which encapsulated the original trilogy movies. The prequel trilogy books took the visual dictionaries to the next level, giving each movie their own volume with even more detailed photos of makeup, costumes, and props along with fascinating text which helped further flesh out the stories. With the sequel movies I was glad to see the Force Awakens did not fail to expand the collection even further, and Rogue One completely changed the format and overall look of the series while adding DOUBLE the pages which was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.This book however is what I can only describe as the first disappointment of the series. Please do not misinterpret this to mean that I felt like the movie itself was a disappointment because IT WAS NOT. Solo is a great addition to the Star Wars film franchise, and after seeing the film one of my first thoughts was "I can't wait to get ahold of the visual dictionary for this one!"Long story short my complaints are as follows: this is not a visual dictionary, but rather an "Official Guide" as the title suggests and there is a difference. It seems like a simplified, more 'Kid Friendly' layout compared to the previous style with odd bubble text eye catchers. Though there is a lot of nice large format images and some cool additional details about the story there somehow seems to be less substance than in previous tomes. I was particularly looking forward to examining Enfys Nest and her gang and was disappointed to find out there aren't even any images included of them with their masks and helmets removed.Overall this book is fine and has some good stuff.However I really liked Solo, it was a great film that deserved a great visual companion book to go along with it. I really miss the previous layout of the visual dictionary series, there really isn't a reason to make these books more "kiddie" and is in fact insulting to kids, they are actually capable of reading a book which doesn't resemble an elementary school scholastic catalog.I suppose this review could be in vain though and perhaps they are also planning on releasing a traditional style visual dictionary, but I'm betting that's not going to be the case.

I really like these guide books because you get to see a lot of things that are in the background of the films that you otherwise wouldn't notice. Without checking, I don't know what the usual age range is on these books but this one definitely feels like it's aimed at a slightly younger audience. There's just something about the formatting. Having said that, if you enjoyed Solo, I would absolutely recommend this book to get a bit more info on the movie.I'm curious if going forward we will be getting "Official Guides" instead of "Visual Guides" with this series.

Everything You Need to Know About Hyperbaric Oxygen TherapyI bought this book because my wife's Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) provider is a friend of Dr. Harch and told me he (Harch) is pretty much the "Guru" of HBOT studies, and I wanted to know all the intricacies of the process, not only for Virginia's Alzheimer's, but other problems as well, just in case. Wow, have I learned a lot! I now feel like I can carry on a pretty good conversation about HBOT with anyone and give advice to those who may have a need, but I'm really waiting until my bride of 50 years completes her "dives" so I can hopefully give it even more credibility. I can already see some positive changes after her first 8 dives, and she has another 22 to go. Actually, I could tell her tremors were better after the first one! Everyone should read this book. Dr. Harch's great gift of knowledge regarding Oxygen Therapy is so beneficial on so many levels regarding so many illnesses! Reading this book & knowing this treatment is available & what it's capable of can improve & save lives. I highly recommend reading this book.

As the author said, "When you make treatment decisions, I want you to ask questions about the basic underlying processes of the disease in question and then find out if HBOT has been shown to have beneficial effects on those disease processes. If so, then I invite you to apply Cunningham’s “Sensible Notion” and try HBOT for your condition. Then, you can add your condition to the list." Please read the book and decide for yourself. My husband had a triple bypass, had viral meningitis, statin-induced myopathy in his legs, all in the span of 2 years. He has had sleep apnea for decades as well. We are going to try it based based on an "educated guess." I read the book from front to end cover. I couldn't read fast enough. I am no doctor, but this makes sense.

As an elementary school library tech, I am always looking for "lesson" stories to read in-between the silly, funny ones. I'm very pleased with IT'S MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY. It's engaging and funny and with colorful illustrations to keep students interested. As I read it, I could almost hear my students gasping and commenting on what Cora June said or did that wasn't nice. By the end of the story I appreciated that Cora June is aware and working on her behavior instead of suddenly changed. I'm looking forward to ordering IT'S MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY for my school library. Boy, do I have a book for you to read to your little ones. @juliacookonline did a phenomenal job writing Its My Way or the Highway. She goes into great detail on how this little girl wants everything done her way and likes to be the boss. Towards the end of the book it demonstrates how mom sits her down and explains that she has to be a good listener. She goes on to tell her that she can t be bossing people around. Julia Cook also gives some amazing tips at the end of the book on what to do and/or say to children that are going through this tough stage in their lives. Author Julia Cook always seems to pinpoint bad behaviors that can be nipped in the bud, and she knows what to say to provide guidance. Being bossy is an issue with a lot of young kids, of course. We see Cora June being bossy at home and at school and she's not making friends. Her mother and teacher try to impress upon her the need to be "flexible" and she eventually realizes she can have fun even when she's not in charge. She learns to ask others what they want to do. This book covers all the bases for kids who need guidance, and offers suggestions for parents. And the pictures are helpful. I don't think most kids will change overnight as Cora June does, and for kids who are on the spectrum it will be harder, too. But, no matter the circumstances, one has to start the conversation. Once or twice I wondered if there was too much text on a page, and whether the mother was lecturing too much, but again...this is a good way to start the conversation. We all want our kids to get along with others.

This book really hit home for my bossy and sweet 4 year old. We are now working on being more flexible and we have a signal if she starts to be bossy that helps her remember to take a step back and listen to others wants/needs.

Although The Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (a.k.a BABoK) is now considered the bible of the business analysis worldwide, I can argue that Karl Wiegers’ “Software Requirements v3” should be dubbed as the survival guide for earnest IT Business Analysts. The BABoK has been written by different authors to be a comprehensive and horizontal framework on the subject, and I can say that its third version is much handy than the older one in terms of the logical soundness of the BA practice. However, Wiegers’ “Software Requirements” is the real practical and actionable book on “The Art of Requirements Engineering”. It is not a UML course or how-to, but rather a notation-agnostic complete trove of tips and advice that we need –as business analysts- to master in order to promote the BA profession beyond the mere current activities of hasty requirements collection and -then- mindless superficial dull documentation. Karl brought back deliberation and profoundness into this craft.

Poor requirements is often cited as the number one cause of reduced quality and efficiency within an organization. This has also been my experience. Time to take the matter in your own hands. This is a solid book on requirements development and management that has helped navigate me and my team within a waterfall/iterative organization during our transition to more agile approaches. This book provides many tools and insightful data to help structure and model software requirements and, to some degree, software architectures. I would consider this a classic and would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their business engineering skills.

The book content is great, 5 stars for that.However, the Kindle edition is flawed for the following reasons:* No table of content is available from the standard menu. This severely hampers navigation within the book.* It is not visible which chapter you are currently reading.* No reconciliation to page numbers from the printed book.This is a text book, not a novel, so the lack of these features makes me sorry I did not buy the print edition.

What I love about this book is that it is so easy to pick this up, get several great ideas on how to fix whatever kind of problem you are facing in software development, and then use those ideas to implement something today that is really going to make a difference in what you can deliver to your customers. Wiegers and Beatty give pragmatic examples and "oops" stories on everything from Agile and analytics through real-time embedded systems that demonstrate the key points you need to know to make your project successful. The book also includes templates, tips, and project-specific details to help you use what you learn.I have used the second edition of this book to help me work with software teams on problems ranging from reducing defects and increasing consulting revenue through implementing industry-standard requirements such as PCI. The third edition of the book builds on the second by increasing its coverage on topics such as dashboard reporting, data requirements, and data modeling. The book is meant to be read cover-to-cover but you can still get a lot out of it by reading what you need, as you need it.My favorite section in this third edition is the expanded discussion on quality attributes. This is an area that is so often overlooked in software development because we tend to assume the best and forget to plan for the worst. This section explains the different types of quality controls and how to know which ones to use based on the type of project you are working on. The authors do a great job throughout the book in explaining how to gracefully handle software errors to keep your data, users, and possibly your customers safe from harm.

There are many very good books about requirements. This book is in a hurry. It wastes no time. It is on a mission to bring you information you can immediately use. I have struggled with requirements, in writing them, and in improving them across the organization. This book gives the reader practical advice on finding, writing, and managing requirements for software projects. Other books I read, glean what I can, and put them away. This book I keep on hand, not as a prescriptive source, but as a guide, a mentor's view. This book will get the reader past thinking about requirements to managing them.

A nice book for someone that is new to the IT business analysis. It is quite comprehensive, and it provides a lot of guidance and nice real life examples. All in all, I recommend this book as a starting point for someone who wants to learn IT business analysis.However, it is definitely not a “Bible” of Business Analysis. Sometimes, reading the book, I had a feeling that authors lack "the big picture”; and quite often, that they are trying to impose as a dogma their own approach to the process of gathering and presenting software requirements.

Although it's called "Software Requirements", this book is more pertinent for project managers and business analysts as opposed to software architects and programmers. It's still a good read, and is full of practices that you and your team should probably consider implementing to improve you software design efficacy.

This book even spawned a Hollywood movie, a (too-jocular) vehicle for George Clooney.Never mind the movie, THE MONUMENTS MEN is a wonderful achievement, blending the military history of the Allies' struggle to liberate Western Europe with the artistic history of what was hidden away in secret tunnels and caves throughout Germany and Austria, and the life stories of the men tasked with reclaiming so many of Western Europe's most enduring cultural treasures. It was a difficult effort to document and celebrate the mostly American Army soldiers who, at great cost to their personal safety, located and rescued this booty and began the process of repatriation, but author Robert M. Edsel does a fine job. In the beginning the cadre of "Monuments Men" (officially MFAA for monuments, fine art and archives) faced a painful lack of recognition, which to the military mind meant they barely existed and did not qualified for funding or transportation. On the ground, these career museum curators, restoration artists and university teachers sought to get into Germany during the "void" period between the retreat of the withering Third Reich and the occupation and imposition of order by Allied troops. (In point of fact, they sometimes found themselves in German villages ahead of the liberators!) The best teams seem to be those who combined the meticulous talents of restorationists like George Stout with the impatient, get-it-done approach of cultural experts like Lincoln Kerstein.Robert M. Edsel deserves congratulations for crafting this well-researched and highly readable text, and achieving the elusive goal of a book that combines "page-turner" quality with so much vital information. In my opinion everyone should read MONUMENTS MEN, especially those with an interest in modern European history, the story of World War Two, or the sufferings of Jews under the Holocaust. Another very good book along the same lines, but more limited in scope, is 2015's THE LADY IN GOLD by Anne-Marie O'Connor. The big note to start this review is that if you watched the movie, fine—it was entertaining and you gotta love the actors. However, if you want the real scoop on the real Monuments Men, you must read the book. I’m not sure why Hollywood (does most of what it does) decided to change the characters or make light of the contributions put forth by Rose Valland by intimating her having a crush on Matt Damon’s character. The Monuments Men were courageous and enterprising, pushing to be in active war zones in their pursuit of art of every kind. They worked closely with residents and a broad array of military personnel. Where the bigwigs so often took the credit—shock—these were the men behind the scenes doing their job and saving millions of pieces of art from the destruction of Hitler’s madness. The book follows the team from their inception to the close of their work. The author, Robert M. Edsel, did a brilliant job solidly taking us along the path of the battles while not losing sight of the point of the story. You may find yourself doing what I did throughout the book—gasping in horror as more and more of what Hitler was doing comes to light. I knew about his confiscation of artwork from everyone, everywhere, and yet I was astounded to find out even more of his evil egomaniacal ways. There are descriptions of the men—and Rose—that I noted along the way, James Rorimer, “He had no practice in failure, and he had no intention of starting now.” Ms. Valland, “Destiny is not one push, she thought as she waited to cross a quiet street on that cold Paris evening years later, but a thousand small moments that through insight and hard work you line up in the right direction, like a magnet does with metal shavings.” You’ll enjoy reading about Harry Ettlinger’s journey with the Monuments Men. A German Jew with American citizenship, he served bravely along with the others. George Stout, “’The sun is fine and, after the rat race, I begin to remember that I am myself and not merely a set of functions.’” Having been blessed with the experience of standing in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam—a haven of art—reading that paintings were taken from there made me sad and appreciate at all that was saved. It took them six years for the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives to return what they’d found to the proper owners. This book reads like an adventure story and will keep you interested the entire way through. If you like history and heroes, read this book, don’t just watch the movie.
